Fracking will be costly in the end

It is a popular argument for proponents of natural gas companies to proclaim that hydraulic fracturing will bring thousands of jobs. I am hopeful that my fellow New Yorkers see through this propaganda.

I am not denying that fracking will create jobs. But at what cost? The answer is the possible contamination of drinking water, destruction of natural habitats and ecosystems, and increase in carbon dioxide emissions from the transportation of the gas. For those of you who don't care about those things, a decrease in property values is another possible outcome of this lovely procedure.

Governor Andrew Cuomo and state agencies like the Department of Environmental Conservation are not serving the people. How long are we going to idly sit by and let multi billion dollar corporations run our lives?
